TAKE THE FOOD AWARENESS CHALLENGE

I talk to my mom every morning. We discuss the previous day’s events, relationships, life in general. The other morning she mentioned a challenge she had participated in. It was a series on awareness and meditation. This particular session was on nutrition.

Before you hear meditation and move on to the next blog, hear me out.

The group sat around a table and each person had an orange. No one was allowed to talk. No TV. No phone.

They were to peel the orange and eat each section slowly, savoring the flavors and feeling the texture. Just be aware of the orange and what they are putting into their bodies.

How many of us gobble food on the way somewhere or snack in front of the TV and realize how much is gone and we didn’t even know we ate it? We thought we wanted the chips but after eating half the bag did we even taste the chips?  

The Food Awareness Challenge 

You choose the food. You pick the time of day.


The rules:
1) No electronics on around you
2) No talking
3) Sit at a table
4) Take small bites
5) Chew each bite completely
6) Set the food down between bites
7) Think about the color, texture and flavor
