My first attempt at a Bento Box

"Bento", according to Wikepedia, "is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine".

I have been following a blog called Happy Little Bento and if there is any blog you can call cute this one would be it.  The writer is so creative with how she puts her bento boxes together.  Between the actual ingredients and the shapes and animals she creates it is pleasing to the eye as well as the stomach!  This is a great method for packing fun and nutritious children’s lunches but I am also considering it for my own to help with portion size.

I had spent quite a bit of time looking for bento boxes on line and found they aren't readily available in the US and the ones I found were rather expensive for being little plastic boxes.

What you see pictured above is the very rare Tupperware Bento.

Ok I know this is lame, I'm still looking for an actual Bento box but it's a start!

You did a super job! I had never heard of it and Ted
and I went to a local Asian Bistro the other week. We
both ordered a Bento Box lunch. So great! Super
presentation.
